PDUs

PMI-SAC supports the ongoing professional development of certified Project Management Professionals (PMPs) and the maintenance of the PMP certification. PMI-SAC does this through its Continuing Certification Requirements (CCR) program. To read more about the CCR program, visit the PMI website.

If you hold a PMI designation (CAPM/PMP/PgMP/PMI-SP/PMI-RMP) and you attend the PMI-SAC Professional Development Conference, you have the opportunity to earn up to 17 Category 3 Professional Development Units (PDUs), (15 PDUs for the entire conference).

In 2011, the PMI-SAC is using an electronic system to track your attendance at the conference. This information will be submitted on your behalf to PMI and you will automatically receive your PDUs for the conference. There will be an electronic tag on your name badge and you will not need to claim your PDUs manually after the event.

What is a Professional Development Unit or PDU?

  • The PDU is the measuring unit used to qualify approved learning and professional services activities.
  • These activities must be related to project management topics that are substantially consistent with the knowledge areas and processes as outlined by A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide) and involve appropriate expert resources.
  • Typically, one PDU is earned for every one hour spent in a planned, structured learning experience or activity. Fractions of PDUs may be reported in 0.25 increments following one full hour.
