Calculating PDUs for the PMI-SAC 2009 Conference

If you hold a PMI designation (CAPM/PMP/PgMP/PMI-SP/PMI-RMP) and you attend the PMI Southern Alberta Chapter Conference, you have the opportunity to earn up to 15 Category 3 Professional Development Units (PDUs). 

You only need to enter one Course Name with PMI to claim the 15 PDUs attainable when you attend the conference.

You can find PDU numbers in two places:

• on the PMI-SAC web site after the conference; and
• as part of your personal schedule printed on the back of your conference name tag.

The PMI Southern Alberta Chapter Conference is also eligible for Professional Development Hours (PDHs) as part of the APEGGA Continuing Professional Development Program (please consult the APEGGA Continuing Professional Development Program online document for further information).

Reporting PDUs from the PMI-SAC 2009 Conference

PMI designation holders will need to retain proof of participation in the conference. Your name tag, conference materials, electronic copies of any available speaker notes, and your payment receipt are great examples of the proof you will need.

Q: How do I claim PDUs if I was called away and unable to attend the entire conference?
A: Follow the process as above reducing the # of PDUs earned by the number of hours you were absent from the conference.  For example, if you missed the Networking Event on Monday and arrived late enough on Day 2 to miss the keynote session with Lewis MacKenzie, enter 13 hours for the PDUs earned. If you attended all the keynotes and two workshops, but were unable to attend the Networking Event on Monday, enter 14 hours for the PDUs earned.

Q: How do I claim PDUs if I was a volunteer during the PMI-SAC Professional Development Conference, November 22-24, 2009?
A: You can claim 7 PDUs for the full day of the conference where you attended and did not volunteer.  If you volunteered as a session host or room monitor, you can also claim PDUs rounded to the nearest whole number for each hour of a session you participated in as a volunteer.  If you volunteered for or attended the Networking Event, you can also claim 1 more PDU.  For example, if you were a room monitor during the two keynotes on Day 1, attended the Networking Event, and attended the entire day as a delegate on Day 2, you can claim 11 PDUs.

A: Once we have finished the Lessons Learned/Knowledge Gained workshop in late January/early February, go to PMI International's website for recording PDUs and enter the following:
